I hope I’m not being immodest when I say that I am one of the most experienced civil helicopter pilots in the UK. Even with all the thousands of hours of experience I have, I still enjoy all the things I do with helicopters, be it spraying a grouse moor in Scotland or instructing a trial lesson. I also have a lot of experience in owning and operating light helicopters and am happy to give advice as to the possibilities, pitfalls and practicalities of running your own aircraft.
Most of all I think that people I instruct enjoy themselves and at the same time I think I am able to get the best out of them, allowing them to progress at their best possible rate toward qualification. I have included some testimonials from recent students, all of whom seem to be satisfied customers.
I own my own aircraft and have ready access to additional aircraft and types if required.
I’m based at Peterborough Business Airfield (Peterborough Conington), but in any week it is likely that I will have been involved in operations anywhere in the UK or Eire. At Conington I give several hundreds of hours of instruction each year, mostly towards PPL(H) qualifications, but this also includes training and examinations for night ratings and type ratings.
“I have enjoyed all of my flying with Mike. I progressed really quickly, but always
felt that he wouldn’t ask me to do anything that I wasn’t capable of doing. Although
I passed my GFT after 45 hours instruction I still like to fly with Mike regularly
